Celtic Cinema

The old baths building on Bath Street was demolished and in 1922 the Imperial Cinema was opened on the site. In the mid-1930’s it was re-named Forum Cinema and was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. It had a 35ft wide proscenium. In the early-1950’s it was re-named Celtic Cinema and around 1954 it was equipped with a RCA sound system.

The Celtic Cinema was closed on 24th March 1975 with David Niven in “Vampira”. It was demolished and the Commodore Cinema was built on the site (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
