Towne East Cinema 5

This was Middletown’s first hardtop theatre since 1929. And the location was familiar as it was on the same tract of land as the Star Glow Drive-In Theatre. Earl Cox opened the theatre with “Superman” and a “Every Which Way But Loose” on December 22, 1978.

Buckeye Theatres would take on the venue. Regal would acquire the venue in 1994 which expanded to five screens with a small arcade. Regal declared bankruptcy in early September of 2001. It closed the North Towne Cinemas on September 7, 2001.
