Scala Cinema

The La Scala Cinema was opened around 1920. It has a small stage and there were two dressing rooms for variety artists who appeared as part of the programme. Around 1930 it was equipped with a Cinephone sound system, later a Western Electric(WE) sound system was installed. Around 1955 it was equipped with CinemaScope with a 25ft wide screen. It was renamed Scala Cinema. It was operated by Wild’s Cinemas.

In 1961 it became a Wild’s Bingo Club. In 1992 they converted into a children’s play centre named Running Wild Fun Centre. It has since been demolished.
