In Warwick, the county town of Warwickshire, in September 1910, the Albert Hall became the town’s first licensed cinema.

In 1914 it was reconstructed, and it re-opened as the Hippodrome Cinematograph Theatre. According to the 1923 Kinematograph Year Book, by that time the proprietor was Patrick Collins, and the resident manager was F. T. Studd. There were two changes of programme each week.

Anecdotal information on a local history website suggests the Hippodrome was closed by 1928. And, indeed, it is listed in the 1927 Kinematograph Year Book (with the proprietor by then being Hockley Picture House Company Ltd) but it is not listed in the 1928 edition.

Today, Edward Street is a purely residential street, so it is assumed the cinema building has long been demolished.
