Jonesboro Studio Cinema Grill

With its opening May 14, 2021, in Greensborough Village, Malco Theatres now had two theaters in Jonesboro and 36 locations in all, covering six states.

Designed by TK Architects, with eight screens, the cinema presents Dolby 7.1 sound and the Malco Grill for dining.

M.A. Lightman opened his first theater in Sheffield, Alabama in 1915, later naming his company Malco Theatres (MALightman CO). At its peak in 1950 Malco had 55 locations in Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Its headquarters were listed at Main and Beale, Memphis, most likely the Orpheum building.

In 2019, The Commercial Appeal reported David Tashie, great grandson of M.A. Lightman, had been named president of Malco Theaters with his father Jimmy Tashie serving as co-chairman.
