Located in the RAF Kirkham Royal Air Force Camp in Kirkham, to the west of Preston, Lancashire. The RAF Kinema was built in 1939, opening in 1940. It had a 30ft wide proscenium and was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system. By 1953 it had been renamed Astra Cinema and was soon equipped with CinemaScope. It was closed with the camp in December 1957.
The RAF Camp was demolished and Kirkham Open Prison now occupies part of the site.
