New Yorker Theatre

This theatre was opened by Peter Rosgovas in 1974 and was operational until 1976 when it was sold due to lack of attendance. It reopened in 1977 with new owner Ron Dalziel but continued to face financial obstacles due to being undercut by the major exhibition chains. He began to show second-rate, art, cult and foreign films but eventually closed in 1979 due again to lack of attendance.

The New Yorker Theatre was purchased and reopened by Murray Dean, who made it exclusively a repertory theatre. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness and signed off the New Yorker Theatre to his friend and business partner Brian Hill in 1983.

The theatre foreclosed in 1993 and closed for good in the late-1990’s.
