The Theatre Chave was opened on November 27, 1842. It had 1,200-seats located in orchestra and 3-balcony levels. It was converted into a cinema in 1913.
In 1937 it was rebuilt in a Streamline Moderne style. It was demolished in 1968 and an office block was built on the site, occupied by the regional agency of the PMU. This too has since been demolished and an apartment building named Les Patios des Chave now stands on the site.
