The Premier News Theatre was located on Albert Road at the corner of Adelaide Lane. It was opened in 1936 and had a seating capacity for 125. The building also housed the Bournemouth Daily Echo newspaper.

It was a popular newsreel cinema and it was enlarged with a 312-seats capacity. The entrance was moved along Albert Road and a new projection box was built over the entrance. The alterations were designed by Bournemouth based architect Edward G. de Wilde Holding.

In 1965 it was re-named Premier Cinema, screening feature films and with a reduced seating capacity of 240. It was closed on 19th September 1973 with Gene Hackman in “The French Connection”. It was converted into a travel agents operated by R.E. Bath and known as Bath Travel Agents. R.E. Bath had been the last operator of the Premier Cinema.

By 2019 it was occupied by and Ice Cream Cafe.
