Xmas 1988 – demolition begins. It is a shame that Hoyts were not able to purchase the Regent and incorporate it into their multiplex project next door on the Trocadero site. It would have been an ideal auditorium to open major new titles before moving them onto smaller screens at the adjoining Hoyts Centre after running a few weeks.
