This photo shows conductor Stan Porter 2nd August 1935 with the Regent orchestra raised to stage level and facing the audience, with organ on left. Soloists included: Lionel Lawson – violin, Beryl Howard – piano, Keith Kensey - xylophone. Porter served at the Regent for a total of five years before Maurice Gutteridge became musical director (Dec. 1935). Will Quintrell took over in May 1938, staying for two years before moving to the Brisbane Regent. He returned 24th August 1942 and stayed until May 1945 when he was replaced by Daniel Mas, from the recently destroyed Melbourne Regent.
