Construction work on the 300,000 pound Regent project commenced in March 1927. By August the front wall with its six Corinthian columns was taking shape. The street hoarding sign invites George Street passers by to: ’WATCH THE MIGHTY REGENT RISE!’ Double shifts were worked to hasten completion.
