The Mystic Theatre launched in downtown Orleans, Nebraska on December 2, 1912 as a new build venue playing silent motion pictures. L.C. Challburg then bought the theatre in 1921 followed by a Mr. Rubenthaler who took on the venue in 1925 changing it to the Rialto Theatre but then finding out that the name ‘Rialto’ was in use in many other Nebraska cities changed it to the Rustic Theatre on September 10, 1925.

A Mr. Gladstone took on the venue on April 21, 1927 and gave it a refresh changing its name to the Strand Theatre. He also soon thereafter equipped the Strand Theatre for sound. New operator, a Mr. Bowker took on the venue in 1937 only to close it due to lack of patronage on July 6, 1937. Movies continued in town at the Orleans Opera House turned Orleans Theatre until 1961 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
