Carl Neubel launched the Star Theatre in downtown Rising City, Nebraska on August 10, 1920 with Norma Talmadge in “The Probation Wife” supported by the Lee Moran comedy short, “His Friend’s Tip”. After nearly ten years of silent films, the Star Theatre was equipped for talkies beginning on February 28, 1930 with Nancy Carroll in “Sweetie”.

The theatre got an improved sound system in 1935 and likely closed at the end of its 25-year lease in 1946.
