Rex Theatre

By 1908, Alliance Ohio was home to seven small movie theatres. The Ideal Theatre joined this pack around 1910, located on the ground floor of a corner building on the south side of E. Main Street. By the 1920’s it was one of half a dozen movie theatres in Alliance, but the end of the decade saw only four survivors, the Ideal Theatre being the smallest among them.

The house closed in the early-1930’s, and although it was reopened in 1934 as the Rex Theatre it had closed again by 1937. The building then reverted to its original use as a retail store. It has since been demolished.
