Located on E. Lake Street at 27th Avenue S in the Nokomis district to the south of Minneapolis. The I.O.O.F Building was built in 1909 with an entrance on 27th Avenue S. It housed the Independent Order of Oddfellows. In 1911 the Elk Theatre was opened with an entrance on E. Lake Street. Michael Michell was the manager. The auditorium measured 22ft wide and 60ft long. It was still open in 1915. By 1918 it had closed and was in use as McDivitt’s & Co. funeral parlor. Since 1946 the Town Talk Diner & Gastro Pub operated at this address and the building was still there in June 2019. It had been demolished by July 2021.
