Theatre

The 1908 Sanborn shows a ‘Novelty Theatre’ at this address. The building is the eastern storefront of a old two-story brick commercial building. This was likely built shortly after a major fire in 1876, which destroyed much of downtown. The 1903 map shows a drug store here.

Likely a very simple affair, this theatre did not survive long, and the 1913 map shows a dry goods store here.

The building suffered some bad remodels over the years, but has been somewhat cleaned up, and is used as offices or retail today. The cornice originally matched that of 126 next door. While the theatre was operating, the address was 132 Franklin Street.
