The Elite Theatre was mentioned in the Bear River Valley Leader in 1914 and by 1917 there were moving pictures listed at this location on Sanborn Maps, the only theatre in town. The Elite Theatre may have become the American Theatre, which was advertised in the Leader in 1919 as being one of the most comfortable in the state.

The American Theatre was reported in Movie Weekly 1922 as one of the theatres participating in the national Popular Girl Contest.

The American Theatre made its final entry in Film Daily Year Book 1928 with 200 seats.

In April 1976 the Leader reported Alva D. McQuire opened the first theatre and newspaper in Tremonton after arriving here in 1914.

Tremonton’s American Theatre and its manager, Harry S. Sims, were mentioned in the September 25, 1915 issue of Moving Picture World. However, the name Elite Theatre appears in issues of the same magazine in August, 1918.
