Kiev Rus Theatre

The Kiev Rus Theatre was constructed in 1982 and was designed in a modernistic Soviet style. It was built on the ground of the former small Kommuar Theatre which was built in 1961. International Film Festivals take place in the Kiev Rus Theatre and the 1990 Film Festival of English Cinema was attended by film director Lindsay Anderson, actor Malcolm McDowell, Her Royal Highness the Princess Ann & Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. In 1997 the equipment in the smaller screen was renewed. Later in 2002 the main screen was also re-equipped. The Kiev Rus Theatre has the largest auditorium in Ukraine and contains 1,192-seats. It also has the largest screen in Ukraine. Projectors are Cinemecanica and it has a Dolby EX sound system.
