The Flamm Opera House was on Sanborn Maps 1900 and was listed in American Motion Picture Directory 1914-15. The builder, Henry Flamm, served as the first mayor of Rexburg and operated Flamm’s Dept. Store and Flamm’s Undertakers.

Also advertised as Flamm’s Theatre, the last film of any significance to show here was “Birth of a Nation” on February 20, 1917. After February 1917 the Flamm Opera House was rarely mentioned again, leaving the Rex Theatre and Elk Theatre.

The Rexburg Standard reported on July 3, 1919, the old Flamm hall has been arranged for office rooms.

In a 1970 interview by the historical society, Henry’s grandson Russell said the building was torn down in the summer of 1969 and replaced by the Bank of Commerce, now the Key Bank.
