Kinomax Burevestnik

The southern portion of Vladmir had a bit of a story about this theater. The theater had an original name of “Petrel Cinema” which was opened in the building of the former Kazan Church in 1951. Unfortunately in the late-1960’s, the Kazan Church where that former cinema was is demolished.

However around the same time, the Petrel Cinema did received a new life when it was relocated down to 29 Lenin Avenue, began construction in 1967, and opened its doors in 1968 which became the first widescreen theater in Vladmir.

The popularity of this cultural institution among the townspeople was very high, but however in the 1990’s, the Petrel Cinema fell into decay declaring a reflection from the fate of the entire Soviet film distribution system of that time.

After a large-scale reconstruction in 2001, it entered the Russian cinema chain “Kinomax” and became known as “Kinomax-Burevestnik”(or “Kinomax Petrel” in English).

Nowadays the Kinomax Petrel is a four-screen theater with a capacity of 649 seats running first-run and foreign films as well as American features. The smaller auditoriums were Screens 1 and 2 with Screen 1 having a capacity of 92 seats and Screen 2 with a whopping 58 seats. Screen 3 is the medium-sized auditorium with 151 seats and Screen 4 is the largest auditorium in the theater with 349 seats.
