Twinlake Tri-Cinema

The Twinlake Twin Cinema was located south of the Twin Lakes Golf Course on Highway 62 East and opened its doors on January 4, 1978 with “The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training” at Screen 1 and “Star Wars” at Screen 2 (although those titles were ran as second-run, the theatre quickly became first-run afterward).

The theatre was first operated by the Kavon Corporation led by former Malco operators and a husband-and-wife team of Don and Ora Novak of Jonesboro which also owns theatres in Pocahontas, Cherokee Village, and Hardy.

In March 1987, the twin theatre became a triplex as the “Twinlake Tri-Cinemas”, and would remain as a triplex for the next couple of decades until the theatre closed for the final time in 2003. It was replaced by the Sundance Cinema 6, now Sun Valley Cinema 6 (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

After sitting abandoned for five-to-six years, the former theatre was converted into a 62 East Auto Repair Center and a Natural State Counterparts department store.
