Cavern Theatre - November, 2010

The Cavern Theatre was opened on April 3, 1951 with David Wayne in “Up Front”. It closed as a movie theatre on October 2, 1979 with Sigourney Weaver in “Alien”. Since then it has been used spasmodically for musical performances and other events. In February 2014 it was donated to the city of Carlsbad by the Light & Rogers families. It is being transformed into a multi-purpose performing arts center.

Your basic box with a unique curved lobby. Currently working with a theatre design consultant and Durham Mackay Architects. The proposed completed project will be a theatre that will be for live stage and motion picture venues.
