Pekin Theater

The Pekin Theatre was the oldest movie house in Montgomery until it was unfortunately torn down in 1995.

Built in 1911, the former vaudeville and movie house was erected with a full orchestra pit and backstage. It became a movie theatre for African-Americans.

The Pekin Theatre finally closed in 1985, and was demolished a decade later.

Pekin was the joint!!! Played martial arts films and late night porn in late 70s and 80s. Miss ya!!!
