Roxy Theatre

The Roxy Theatre opened on January 18, 1941 with Jane Withers in “Youth Will Be Served”. The theatre seated 467. When the Roxy Theatre first opened it changed programs four times a week. The Roxy Theatre was operated by the Crescent Amusement Co. by 1950. It remained a sub run theatre until it closed in 1961.

The building still exists. It was used for offices by the nearby Mutual Life Insurance Co. for a number of years. I believe the building was closed in the 1970s. It has changed hands a few times with some attempted renovations, but it has not been in use for 30+ years.
