Theater’s neighborhood is incorrect. When it was built, it was in the Southside and is now considered Bay Area. Southside / Bay Area would be the proper neighborhood.

From the Corpus Christi Caller-Times: The coming of the stadium seating megaplex did in the small theaters. Cine 6 lasted for 33 years before it closed on August 2, 2001. The theater ran arthouse and independent movies along with some newer films, but couldn’t attract enough business with those selections to earn enough profit. For Trivia Buffs: The final films shown at Cine 6 were Pearl Harbor, Tomb Raider, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, The Mummy Returns, Moulin Rouge, Crazy/Beautiful and Swordfish.

A rendering of the proposed Deux Cine, and a small photo of the groundbreaking for the project, appeared in Boxoffice of June 19, 1967. The new house for Corpus Christi Theatres was designed by architects Kipp & Winston.

The Corpus Christi Public Library has two photos of a model of the Deux Cine.

<<< Originally this theatre opened as the Dixie Cine Twin. >>>

This theater was never called Dixie. (Why would it have been? It was not located in the South.)

It was originally called the Deux Cine. “Deux” as in: French for two. As in: a twin cinema… get it?
