The name was changed from the Grand Theatre to the Paramount Theatre in 1929.

The theatre’s 1940 modernization was architected by Earle G. Stillwell.

Another theater existed in Burlington that was owned by the Qualls family. The State Theater, located on Andrews Street, opened in 1939. A short article in the Burlington Times News is attached, along with a link. http://timesnews125.com/history/19390307.php

I bet at one time it might have been an ABC THEATRE or Plitt Theatre?

The Paramount, Carolina, and Alamance were owned by North Carolina Theatres, Inc. per ad in the 1940 “Doe Wah Jack”, Burlington High School annual.

This 1940 ad touts the grand opening, which may have been a
re-opening if the theater opened in 1928:

I have seen two shows at this Venue. It has been lovingly restored and it is a very impressive job done on it. I liked it so well that my partner and I are presenting concerts there. Its just such a wonderful little place.
