The Stuart Galbraith IV. book ‘Motor City Marquees’ gives the architects of the Dawn Theater as Feldman & Seeler

I lived on the corner of Forest and Heck Place, one very short block west of the Dawn Theater, from 1943 to 1949. My small bedroom, along the side porch of the old farmhouse had a window from which I had a good view of the marquee of the theater. As a young boy, I attended many Saturday matinee double features separated by serials and cartoons at the Dawn.

I doubt I will have any photos, but will search family albums to see.

My error of memory – it was the Your Theater on Forest and Mt.Elliott that I referred to in my posting – not the Dawn.

I did live on Iroquois Street, near Gratiot and the Dawn Theater from 1939 to 1943 and did go to movies there with my older brothers but I have no recollection of the interior and definitely no photos.
