FORT BLISS, TX — The first megaplex on a U.S. military installation has opened as part of a new shopping mall on the Fort Bliss army base called Freedom Crossing. As earlier reported, the Grand Theatre, operated by Southern Theaters, features ten screens, stadium seating, and all digital projection. Civilians may attend the Grand Theatre if they enter the base at one of two designated gates and provide government-issued identification.

There are stories about the new mall and the theater’s opening at KFOX and in the El Paso Times

I don’t know about this being the first megaplex on a military installation. Carmike opened the Wynnsong 10 multiplex at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1996.

jce, your right, I think what was meant to be said was that this is the first time a new type of giant shopping mall has opened on a U.S. military installation and a megaplex was included.
