EAST GREENVILLE, PA — The Upper Perkiomen Valley’s historic Grand Theater is pleased to announce that we will be screening one of the most beloved movies of all time on Easter Weekend.

For two (2) matinee shows only, the public will once again have the chance to see the 1939 M-G-M classic “The Wizard of Oz” shown on its original 35mm film format on the big screen! “The Wizard of Oz” has been named by the American Film Institute as one of the top ten films of all time.

Shows are Good Friday, April 2nd and Saturday, April 3rd at 2PM. Tickets are only $5 per person.

As an added attraction, organist Mr. Carl Black will play our 1923 “Silent Film Era” Marr and Colton Theater Organ beginning at 130pm each day. Come early to enjoy classic selections on this historic instrument at no additional charge!

No advance sales, tickets available at the door the day of the show. The box office will open at 1:15PM. Details on the theater’s history and current show information can be found on the theater’s website www.TheGrandTheater.org or by calling the theater at 215-679-4300.

About the Grand:
October 4, 1924 – The original owners of the Grand wanted the most modern and beautiful theater in the Upper Perkiomen Valley, but in 2004 after several owners, remodeling jobs, and even a name change, the Grand was in such disrepair that the theater closed its doors for what was thought to be forever in March 2004. Souderton Realtor Ed Buchinski, who specializes in preserving and restoring historical buildings, together with his partner on the project, Mr. John Schortz of Bethlehem, the latest and best chapter of the Grand was started on August 20, 2004 when they purchased the building and embarked on a painstaking restoration back to its 1924 appearance. Now considered the crown jewel of the Upper Perkiomen Valley, the Grand boasts: $5 evening admission and $3 matinee admission. Surroundings nothing like the megaplexes – the Grand is indeed GRAND! No pre-show advertising! You pay for the movie – NOT COMMERCIALS! Professional staff with 1920’s era uniforms. Children’s matinees and select classic, cult, and silent films! The Grand boasts the best sound system in all of Eastern Pennsylvania – a 12,000 watt dts ® 7.1 Channel Digital Surround System! Supplementing the state-of-the-art sound system, The Grand also is the home of a relic from the by-gone era of silent films, a fully restored 1923 Marr & Colton 2 Manual, 6 Rank Theater Pipe Organ, used for special events and weekend pre-show entertainment.
