An update on the transformation of the former Mann 10 to an upscale art theater called the Five Star; it does not indicate the number of screens but the seat count will be reduced from 2,500 to 508. View article

Well, it’s closed during construction/renovation, which has already started in earnest. They’ve already removed the old marquee and dome. This is what it’s going to look like: Former Mann Theater complex in Glendale slated for major overhaul

Can now officially be marked as closed. I just found my pictures of the twin on the final day of their operation (which was final day of Mann operation, June of 2011).

I’m speculating, but it appears as though it may have closed again tonight. The final showtime set was at 5:45 and there are no times listed for tomorrow and beyond.

It would make sense for Vintage to call it quits, especially with the Marketplace now re-opened.

As written above, Vintage is new the operator of the original 8 screens, with the twin closed. Showtimes are available on MovieFone the soonest of all the sites.

It doesn’t show them anymore in there advertising on the web is it closed or who’s the new operator?

As of recently since Vintage took over, The “Mann” signage has been removed on both the front and the back, which only left it as “10 Theatres”.

Twin = more rent. Two screens just means you have more time to play your worst two movies. Cut your losses.

They should have kept “The Twin” as part of it instead of the “original 8”. Then, it would have been more room for other movies.

I’m glad to see the theatre is still open though, it would have been good if they used it for an art-house or something.

I am bummed I missed out on the Exchange on my last LA trip. Caught a flick at the Marketplace though.

Yeah, the Village in Coronado has been open for several weeks now. Their website isn’t reliable.

Now officially listed as “The Exchange 8” on MovieTickets.com: http://www.movietickets.com/house_detail.asp?house_id=1404

R.I.P. to The Twin. Glad to have caught a final show in there last Thursday. Snuck a few quick pictures, which I’ll load up shortly.

They’re pretty slow to update their website.

Who is running the place?

A couple more notes: 1) As of now (and continuing through this coming week) they are only using eight auditoriums, presumably meaning they are not using the twin… I wonder if that’s permanent… downsizing would be logical, but it’s also a little weird because 9 & 10 are much newer houses; 2) It is clear now that they will be allowed (at least for certain movies) to double-book with the other two Glendales, as always (all three get “Zookeeper” this Friday).
