Looks like it was at about 495 Lumber City Highway (31.894721,-82.61516). Also, the city should be “Hazlehurst.”

There was a drive-in south of town at 735 W. Oglethorpe Highway, now the site of a Lowe’s store.

While the address listed is the one given by Google Maps, it won’t map when clicked. Here are the coordinates instead: 30.774326,-85.588903

The land has been cleared.

It was on Malone Road, just in from the northwest corner of Malone and North Main Street.

There are two pictures on this website.

AndyCallahanMajorMajor commented about Augusta Road Drive-In on Oct 16, 2010 at 7:14 pm

It would’ve been at about 4561 Augusta Road. It appears that the gravel/dirt remains of a driveway are still there, but other than that, no sign a drive-in was ever here.

Slightly off topic, but does anybody know anything about the old drive-at 130 Coastline Road in Spartaburg, just north of US 29? It’s a trailer lot now, but there’s a heavily damamged screen still standing in the corner.

This is a circa 1987 picture of a Maas Brothers trailer, but you can see the Strand Theatre in the background. There was an alley along Twiggs between the Strand and another building, which was the Maas Brothers delivery entrance.

There was one drive-in south of town on US 278. The site hasn’t been redeveloped and the ramps are still there. This theater’s address is 7671 Marlboro Avenue. I couldn’t find the locations of Barnwell’s other two drive-ins.

This one is long gone. While the theater would’ve had an address along SC 215, the warehouse now on the property has the address of 101-169 Industrial Park Road.

There was a drive-in on Neeses Road (SC 4) at the corner of Cimmeron Drive, near the junction with US 301-601. The ramps are still there, but that’s about it. There was another one at 2231 Rowesville Road (US 21) that appears to still have the projection booth and/or concession stand.

It appears on a USGS topographical map, many of which seem to have been printed in the late 70s.

Probably not built. I don’t think Titusville was much of anything until the space program took off.

644 Newton Road (Georgia 37). The ticket booth is allegedly still standing.

This would’ve been at about 696 Glausier Street NE. The property is completely overgrown, but you can still see an outline from Google Maps.

Do we know for sure if this theater is demolished? Something about the building at the northeast corner of Broad and Merrick seems “theatrical,” for the lack of a better word.

Looks like it was on US 82 just west of Carpenter Road. The outline is still pretty visible, but half of the lot has been redeveloped and a Marshall Road runs through the middle of the site.

The new marquee pales in comparison to the one in the 1981 picture. I guess that one was removed after it closed.

I think the correct address is 26 S. Magnolia Avenue, just opposite the downtown square.

It looks like this one might’ve actually been in East Brewton, back in the woods a few yards southeast of the US 29/AL 41 intersection.

AndyCallahanMajorMajor commented about Red Run Drive-In on Sep 28, 2010 at 12:42 pm

Using Google Earth, the drive-in was located on Mentzer Lane behind the buildings located at 12243 E. Buchanan Trail. The land was redeveloped sometime between 1994 and 2003, though a faint outline of the theater remains.
