This theatre was a thrill to visit when I was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in 1966. I remember taking the bus into town to see movies at the Majestic and other numerous theatres. Among those I noted seeing here were “The Professionals,” “Texas Across the River” and “After the Fox.”

The Majestic Theatre opened in April 1929.

The Film Daily Yearbook’s,1941 and 1943 give a seating capacity of 4,000. The Majestic was listed as being operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary Hoblitzelle & O'Donnell. In the 1950 edition of F.D.Y. seating is given as 3,703.

I UNDERSTAND THE NEW MOVIE “THE ALAMO” WILL OPEN HERE.I WAS STATIONED AT FORT SAM HOUSTON AND WENT TO THIS GREAT THEATER MANY TIMES .THE AZTEC A FEW BLOCKS AWAY WAS ALSO A GREAT MOVIE HOUSE.THE MAJESTIC IS A BEAUTY!
