I’m saddened to say, I received an Email from Billy Smith.. AS most know, Billy, along with Don Lewis, has a lot of photos on cinematreasures & flickr too. Well, Don passed away on May 27, in Lubbock Tx at the age of 71..
Billy wanted me to post this on here..
R.I.P. Don Lewis.. Thank you for all of your contributions to this great site & flickr too..

Known as the Gemini Drive In Theatre, also Gemini Twin.. A 3rd screen was added on the north end of the land making this a 3 screener.. Nothing remains today..

The structure that was built after the fire that destroyed the Texan, still stands today. Built in 1944, it’s known (today) as the Main Retail & Lofts..
The Torres & Sons Taxidermy still occupies what was once the snack bar for the Country Squire Drive In Theatre. An April 2019 aerial view (googlemaps) shows that the little projection building is still holding on… With out a roof tho..
Drove by today (Aug 11 2019) & this structure still stands. The 25th St Theatre part of the marquee has been removed. Safety reasons I’m guessing. In such sad shape.. RAC Photography †
A sad note.. Richard (Rich) Peterson, who managed the Astro & the Casa Linda Theatre (Dallas Tx) passed away on May 24 2019.
Rich was a super nice guy. I first met him during the demolishing of the Astro & closing of the Casa Linda. We’ve stayed in touch on & off ever since. I’m very saddened. Rich battled stage 4 cancer for 13 months, fighting all the way. He was a trouper! Rich will be missed by so many…………
R.I.P. my friend.. I’ll remember our IHOP get togethers fondly..

From my understanding, the Texas & Texan was 2 totally different theater’s. 2 different locations.. Anyone??

Was definitely in the movie “Midnight Cowboy”. That’s “him”, right side of the capture above, carrying the suitcase.
