My source in Rocky Mount has no information concerning the names of the theatre. Her best guess is that ownership changed and so did the theatre’s name.

To Mike Rogers……what response are you looking for??? I worked for ABC Theatres for 20 years and had two stints at the Palmetto.

Ron: I enjoyed working with you during the “good ole days” too. Had some greaat times back then. I don’t do facebook, but, if you do, there’s a Remembering Plitt Theatres page that you may be able to find some former Wilby-Kincey/ABC managers, and we can get together???

Tinseltoes……As with the Cardinal-Raleigh, thanks for the Boxoffice link re the Ultravision-Charleston. I had not read this in the magazine. I took over management of the Ultravision in April, 1970 after a 2 year stint at the Richland Mall-Columbia, and can assure you that this presentation of films (especially 70MM)is absolutely the finest I have ever experienced.

Tinseltoes…..thanks for the Boxoffice link. I had forgotten about it. I am the Beverly Hall who managed the Cardinal at opening. I was only there less than 6 months and then transferred to the Richland Mall in Columbia, SC. Cardinal was a fabulous theatre.

To Ed Solero

I worked at the Center thru high school (1956-60) and HF Kincey also owned a drive-in there name Tower. Your photo may be the Tower or the other local drive-in, Skyvue. To the best of my knowledge, those were the only drive-ins in town.
