  • <p>This structure is reported to have come from Camp Upton in Yaphank, Long Island.  After World War I when the camp was closed all buildings and fixtures were auctioned off for pennies on the dollar.  Buildings were dis-assembled and transported by rail, truck, and/or barges to their new homes.  Many of the bungalows and businesses in the West End off Long Beach came from Camp Upton after the auction in August of 1921.</p>
  • <p>This photo of the entire facade of the Hobart Theatre was taken in late 1964 and the marquee shows “Of Human Bondage” Kim Novak Lawrence Harvey and “Looking for Love” Connie Francis. The photographer was Eddie Pearle, who worked every Friday at the Hobart. Also seen are the Luncheonette, Green Grocer, Jeweler, Liquor Store and Murphy’s Bar & Grill.</p>
