As far as I know, the Palace always tries to show movies in 35mm.

Yes. That is a rear entrance to the building. It connects to the same main hallway as the front entrance with the larger Marquee.

That is for the current Proctors that belongs to this page. WMHT has a documentary called “Matinee Memories” and that same photograph was featured in it. According to the documentary, there was a previous theater called ‘Proctor’s’ that used to sit on the same plot as the current Proctor’s. The building adjacent to the construction is also the same as the one that is there now.

I do not actually work for the Palace, so I can’t be entirely sure, but I’d say the answer is yes. The Palace installed brand new projection equipment just about a year and a half ago after not having any since the late 60s or early 70s.

I have an update. I have just found out which version of ‘A Christmas Carol’ will be playing at the Palace. It is this version, the 1951 version starring Alastair Sim. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, you can see this at the times listed above.

I went to go see Pride and Prejudice here last night. It was the first time I had been to Proctor’s for a movie since October (I think). They installed a new sound system for movies. The left and right channels hang from the ceiling in front of the proscenium at the center channel hangs from the ceiling above the screen. This new system drastically reduces the echo in the balcony, making it possible to understand the movie from upstairs. I was also impressed that the organ is being played again. I’ve been informed that they have been playing the organ before several of the movies this summer.

Well, the movie they were going to show on the 30th was Monsters Inc., but it has been changed to Shrek 2.

Oops, forgot to show my face after going to Casablanca about a week ago or so. The movie was good. The Palace put in new projection equipment and a brand new digital surround sound system. My only misgiving was that Casablanca was cropped from it’s original aspect ratio of 1.37 to, I’d guess, around 1.7ish. It was also announced that some of the movies that are planned for the rest of the year are E.T. – The Extraterrestrial, Titanic and Shrek.

Thanks for the info Palace Albany. I’ve been wondering what kinds of things they are going to do at the Palace.

Does anybody know anything about the 2005 Movie Series that their website is advertising at the top of their webpage?
