The only show I have ever seen in the Walker/BC theatre was a live performance, and I was seated in the second-last row of the top balcony, and was still impressed by the view. Given, the stage was a speck, but the fact that I had clear sightlines despite the altitude and number of people in front of me was impressive. Afraid of heights beware though, that top balcony is a little narrow and steep. The pew-style wooden seating is good though, much easier to get through crowded rows when so high up.

What’s the news on FotM? People still looking into it? I’m very interested in helping out in whatever way I can, just found this site tonight and am amazed at the amount of information here. I work at Academy Uptown, formerly the Uptown theatre, and wish it had been better preserved. Winnipeg has so much beautiful historical architecture.

Some of the original interior detailing can still be seen in the back of the bowling alley’s kitchen on the ceiling, and in the extended storage closets which were formerly staircases to the galleries before being renovated. It’s too bad more of the original architecture hasn’t been preserved, although the building does still provide a great atmosphere for bowling on both floors. Large photos of the building’s interior from when it was a theatre, and also of its original conversion to a 60’s retro bowling alley before its current renovation have been preserved in the main entrance for any interested.
