Theater 5, the THX house during its 2018 renovation. Note the sound absorbing wall built behind the screen with just enough cut out to accommodate the speakers. Just one of many architectural and equipment requirements to get that THX certificate. This house started out in 1988 with regular Dolby then upgraded to Dolby Digital in 1994. It also had the 70MM projector which was used for “Far And Away” “Dick Tracy” and a weekend screening of “Aliens” as part of their radio station midnight series promotion.
It was out of THX compliance even before GCC closed up, and abuse of the speakers as well as outright theft of some of them by EFW and Madstone employees required a lot of money just to get the sound to an acceptable level.
