The Three Rivers 5, which closed on January 11, 2015, had been operated by Regal Cinemas since 1998. The prior history includes an ownership by Cineplex Odeon who first opened it on December 8, 1989. Cineplex Odeon merged with Act III Theatres in August of 1992.

It became a Regal theatre after being bought in 1997 by KKR, the Wall Street buyout firm. Regal was then merged with Act III Theatres and United Artists Theatres to create Regal Entertainment Group.

The reason for the closing was the opening of the 12-screen Regal Cinema at the mall.

This opened on December 8th, 1989. Grand opening ad posted. Sold to Act III on August 7th, 1992 as Cineplex Odeon was losing money.
