Wings Twin Theater

This twin theater opened in 1976, built by the former owners of the Home Theatre (q.v.) in downtown Rantoul, which was closed when the Wings Theatre opened. The theater got its name in a contest, and alludes to the former Chanute Air Force base in Rantoul, which was closed in 1993. The Wings Twin was operated by Kerasotes for many years. It was closed in 2000 and Kerasotes used the former theater for storage space. It was demolished in September 2012.

Rather plain looking building.

When AMC purchased Kerasotes, the Wings property became theirs. The last time I was in the theatre, I observed a very large hole in the roof of the left-hand auditorium, which birds used to enter the building. This theatre was similar to another Kerasotes location, also closed, in Sullivan, MO.
