Koin Center Cinemas opened in 1985 in the one-year-old Fountain Plaza high-rise office building on SW 3rd Street and Clay Street in Portland, Oregon. The name reflected the building’s immediate identification with its most prominent tenant, KOIN TV and radio.
The six-screen complex was located on the third floor and was first operated by Seven Gables Theatres, owned by the Gamble family. The street entrance featured an unusual monument-style marquee located at the corner. The Regal closed the theater in 2004.
