“TRIPLE TEXANS - Tex Ritter, born in Murvaul, Texas, poses in front of the Texan Theatre, 812 Capitol St., in Houston in December, 1937 with its manager Fred Cannata and two employees, one of which (standing next to the manager, is Miss Josephine Cottle.

Born in Bloomington, Texas, Miss Cottle moved to Houston with her mother family at seventeen months of age following the death of her father. The youngest of five children, she took dance and ice skating lessons and developed a keen interest in acting. Encouraged by her teachers, Miss Cottle and performed in high school dramatics and entered the Jesse L. Lasky’s “Gateway to Hollywood” national talent contest. She won the local Houston event, which sent her and her mother to Hollywood in 1939. The perky Miss Cottle captured the national contest title, which resulted in a contract with RKO Pictures and a new name….Gale Storm.

Gale Storm went on to be a successful screen star, recording artist and one of television most popular stars of the 1950s with her MY LITTLE MARGIE and THE GALE STORM SHOW series."
