The building known as the Victory Theater and the Opera House operated as a Shop Rite supermarket for many years. On July 4, 1977, the brick building burned to the ground. The fire department was 1 block away. A new shop Rite was built on the site.

This theatre was demolished over 25 years ago, I was in Bayonne yesterday and it is now a full block Shop-Rite with underground parking! Time to change the heading.

From the Army’s Weekly Yank, dated 11/5/43:

The Victory theater in Bayonne, N.J. is cutting out films and going on a two-a-day vaudeville basis.

1907 theater photo link in earlier comment is not the Opera House, but a different theater altogether, at a different location in Bayonne, NJ.

A Wurlitzer organ (opus 66) was installed in the Opera House on 8/23/1915.
