Opened around 1905 the Parlor Nickelodeon was located on Sixth Street, across from the town sqaure.

Typical of early day nickelodeons the Parlor Theatre had an arched entryway outlined in pastel stud lighting. The lobby offered arcade penny games and stereopticon machines that (when hand cranked) flipped picture cards to produce 3D moving images. Five cents admitted patrons to a pastel lighted, small parlor that presented one and two reel silent movies.

Exact operating dates are lost to time, but it is certain that the Parlor Nickelodeon was open as early as 1905. Retail shops now occupy this square footage.

While still under construction the below link does not yet have images of the Parlor Nickelodeon, but will shortly.

From the early 1950’s through the late 1970’s this building was used for an upscale shop known as Poplinger’s Ladies Wear.
