Patria Cinema

Located in the center of Bucharest, the Patria Cinema is fronted by the very tall ARO office building which was built in 1931. The Patria Cinema was an addition, that was built and opened in 1934. It has been described as one of the most beautiful cinemas in the city with Western standards of luxury, with vast marble halls and air conditioning, etc.

Recently modernised and re-furbished in around 2006, it operateed as a bargain priced cinema. It was a host venue for the Bucharest International Film Festival. It had closed by 2017.

Despite the camera info saying May 2010, my photos were taken in May 2013.

It was closed due to the building being deemed unsafe in the event of an earthquake. The same fate befell the Scala and Studio cinema all in the same street.
