M2 Theatre

The M2 Theatre was situated in the Yau Ma Tei district on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong.

The theatre opened to business on 28th October, 1978 with “Matilda”. It showed first and second run English language films and first run Chinese dialect films until its closure on 1st December, 1988.

The auditorium–stalls only with stadium seating in the rear–was on the first floor of the theatre building. The spacious lobby was on the ground floor.

The theatre was demolished and a hotel with two mini cinemas was built on the site with the Majestic Theatre.

“M2” also means “Majestic 2” which was built behind the Majestic on Nathan Road.
