The Rex was owned by Charles Baumann, who also owned the Star Theater on Oregon Avenue in Oshkosh. By 1935, the Rex had closed and was being used as an auditorium for local schools in North Fond du Lac. On June 27, 1935, a fire of mysterious origin completely destroyed the building.

The Rex Theatre was in North Fond du Lac, which is not part of the city of Fond du Lac. The Rex was listed in the 1921-1922 edtion of Wid’s Year Book.
