The Rex Cine was the only movie theatre in Cayes when operating in the early 1940’s. The building is in a rustic colonial style and is set in a courtyard and garden, entrance to which is gained through a gated entrance set in a surrounding high wall.
Performances were given every evening. with prices ranging from seven to 40 cents gold. The director-proprietor was Louis Petion Theard who booked principally French and American feature films.
