Nordica Theater

Located on Bow Street, the Nordica Theater opened in 1934 is listed as operating in editions of Film Daily Yearbook to 1957.

In November 2011 a new 6-screen Nordica Theatre opened in the town.

There are plans to build a new, six-screen theater in Freeport. If built, it may be named the Nordica, in memory of this former theater; story here: View link

The Theatre Historical Society archive has the MGM Theatre Report for the first Nordica Theatre; it’s Card # 373. Address is “Water St.” There is an exterior photo dated April 2, 1941. Condition is Fair. The report says it opened in 1934, was showing MGM films, and had 325 seats. The 1940 population was 2,700.
